This one-frame philatelic exhibit shows how mail was carried up the line to Indianapolis and down the line to Madison; and how this route connected with the Ohio River and other railroads. A special focus is placed on Indiana history in this exhibit – both regarding the history of the railroad and the history of the people of Indiana.

John Herriott Letter

This single folded letter was carried by the M&I RR to the Ohio River, where it entered the mail to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The cover is shown on page three of the exhibit - the contents are available here for you to read.

Forwarded Letter

This single folded letter was carried from Akron, Ohio to Madison, Indiana. At Madison, it was readdressed and forwarded to Indianapolis, and carried up the M&I RR to its final destination. The cover is shown on page five of the exhibit - the contents are available here for you to read.
